Jackie Nygard
Jackie Nygard is the first child of Jack and Doris Nygard. Jackie was born in September, 1942. and had been a major contributor to the family web site.
Jackie had fond memories of the Nygard family. He remembers learning to play poker at Carl Nygard's house, who was his godfather. Anne Frances Nygard, Jack Nygard and Jimmy Rodgers would also play. Carl always had his stash of coins that he hid in the garage.
Jackie played ball with Terry Hasson and remembers Terry telling him the day after he met his future wife, Cathy Hasson, that he had met a girl named Cathy Nygard and did I know her. Jackie barged in on their wedding even though there was no invitation. He was living in Maryland and had to hitchhike so he missed the ceremony but made the reception. And Carl Nygard graciously invited him back to the house afterwards.
Jackie was a computer professional before he retired. He began coding assembly in 1969 and went to various computer jobs around the country before ending his career as CIO at Kia Motor America in California. He joined the Air Force in 1960 and left the service in 1964. He served in North Africa in Tripoli Libya where his father served in WW2.
Jackie was married for 37 years before Doris passed away in December 2003. He had 3 children -John is CIO at Lennar Corporation in Florida; Keith is a manager with Pacific Care in California; and Kirsten & her husband started a trucking business in Vegas.
