Greg Nygard
Greg was the youngest of the Nygard boys of Jack and Doris Nygard. Tragically, on the day after Thanksgiving in 1957, Greg contacted Meningitis which led to water on the brain and the high fever ultimately left him a victim of Cerebral Palsy. This was a period of time when medical insurance was not a benefit that the workingman had at his disposal. Four brain surgeries were performed on Greg in a period of 6 years.
His mother Doris began to work at the CP clinic in Chester Pa. from 1963 until 1976. Gregory was placed at Hamburg Center in 1961 and remained there until his death in 1987. Doris and family visited Greg often. A remarkable thing about Greg was that he was born on Valentine's Day and his birthmark was a heart on his left thigh. Doris must have known that she was about to die because she filled out a Birthday card for Greg enlisted a friend (still unknown to the family) to mail it to him a year after her death.
